Life in Shiga in the Old Days

Shiga Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Kojin Sawa, Takeshiro Kanokogi et al.
Some of the genre and landscape paintings created by artists associated with their hometowns depict the lifestyle and culture of the people of the time. For example, Kojin Sawa's "Mushi-buro" accurately depicts a type of sauna bath and various customs that were prevalent in Shiga Prefecture. In this exhibition, paintings from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods will be used to introduce the now rare Shiga lifestyle.
