Ishii is an illustrator and also a surfer. "Tokyo Surf Paradise" tells, in manga style, a summer love story between a boy and a girl. He incorporates some subtle references to the Edo and Showa periods into the love story hoping the help busy modern people regain some energy by exposing them to an extraordinary world.
