This event has ended.

Szeemann is a Swiss artist who works mostly in film and photography. She has been active largely in Europe and has gained the consistent reputations. Her works keenly analyze the reality and ideals of the society. This is her first one-person show in Japan.
Szeeman's latest film "Montewood Hollyverita" got its theme from the Utopian community of artists and philosophers in Ascona in Switzerland at the turn of the 20th century. They sought the ideal and freedom in a community known as "Monte Verita" during a period of rapid modernization.
The title "Montewood Hollyverita" is made by combining "Monte Verita" with "Hollywood." Szeemann illustrates the utopian ideal and its contradiction and perversion by overlapping the beliefs of the Monte Verita and the contemporary Hollywood.
