"In Touch of the Present - Korean Artists Collaboration" Exhibition
Wada Fine Arts
This event has ended.
Korean artists, especially those in their twenties and thirties, have become increasingly active and visible in the contemporary art scene in recent years. Their works have supremely craft-like elements, and differ from Western art, which emphasizes the concept behind works. One common theme in their works is their focus on what can be seen from opposing sides of a subject - the exploration of the artists' own identities through comparing Korea to other countries.
A wide range of works including celadon ceramic Venus busts, reliefs using household items as a motif, architectural photographs, and paintings will be on display. The works' style is decorative and direct, and its development separate from the west is representative of the recent rise of a unique Asian contemporary art market.
