Hirokazu Ichii "Trip to Imagination"
This event has ended.
Graduating from the sculpture course at the grad school of Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006, Ichii now works vigorously in his own atelier. Using Japanese cinnamon as his main material, he starts with creating several small drawings and large watercolor paintings. After building up a concrete image in his mind, Ichii sculpts various body parts out of cinnamon wood, utilizing parquet technique often used for producing Buddha statues. Colored and carved in an exquisite balance, sitting figures exude a sense of vitality.
Entitled "Trip to Imagination", this exhibition showcases 3 sculptures and several drawings.
