"Manet and Modern Paris" Exhibition
This event has ended.
Édouard Manet (1832-83) was not only an Impressionist painter, but also one of the most important modern artists who exerted a definitive influence on subsequent generations of artists. Although he is well known in Japan, opportunities to view his work within the country come by only rarely. This exhibition, which commemorates the opening of the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum in Tokyo's Marunouchi area, showcases around 80 works by Manet, including oil paintings, sketches and prints that offer viewers a comprehensive look at his career as well as the changing face of mid- and late-19th century Paris.
