Takashi Ishida, Meiro Koizumi, Takehito Koganezawa et al.
In order to deepen people’s appreciation of contemporary art the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo will hold a series of exhibitions drawing on the museum's collection of over 4000 works in order to approach the subject from a variety of angles.

The third floor gallery hosts an exhibition of new acquisitions entitled "Silent Narrator: On Plural Stories". Why are we attracted by stories? Is it because they provide us with a glimpse into the experiences of somebody different to ourselves? This exhibition explores the theme of storytelling through artworks that are all quiet narrators that do not necessarily rely on words, but contain room for us, the audience, to link our imaginations with each of their stories.

The first floor gallery will present "Special feature: Takashi Ishida", an introduction to the world of artists whose work has been newly acquired by the museum. Takashi Ishida (1972- ) examines the act of creating paintings through animated drawings. He sketches lines that multiply like waves, drawing them one frame at a time to produce animations that appear to analyze time and space, pioneering a new way of creating paintings and winning him high praise in recent years not only for his experimental films, but also in the field of contemporary art. This exhibition will feature some of his earliest video works (recently acquired for the museum’s collection) and other representative pieces as well as his latest works, which lay bare his focus on material or the body.
