Tsuyoshi Ono “Gaia”
This event has ended.
Having come to the world of beauty through the publicity department of Shiseido cosmetics, Ono has set upon creating work which embodies the beauty of nature as if a living organism. Since ancient times the people of Japan have worshipped nature as gods, and in gratitude for the blessings of nature upon this small archipelago with limited resources they have come to respect nature and its multiple deities. Contemporary Japan has been gripped in the throes of rapid modern day development but there is still a desire to preserve this aspect of the traditional Japanese sensibility. This exhibition bridges East and West in a title “Gaia” which presents an image of nature as god, which may be identified in philosophies across the world.
