The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography takes up the theme of the “aesthetics of photography” for this year’s collection exhibition presenting a range of work spanning from the early 19th-century photographs to the contemporary day. This exhibition draws upon the Chinese notion of the natural elements wood, fire, earth, metal and water, and examines the aesthetics of photography in moments captured by the artist’s eye.
