“The Masterpieces of Nihonga”

2014 marks the centennial of the revival of the Japan Art Institute. To commemorate this anniversary, this exhibition traces the 130 year history of the institute, which was originally established as the Tokyo Fine Arts School. Some 120 representative works by Hogai Kano, Taikan Yokoyama, Kokei Kobayashi, Yukihiko Yasuda, Ikuo Hirayama and other master painters of modern nihonga are brought together in this exhibition allowing further insight into the great achievements of this form.
