Ko Ushijima “Moon Over Water”
Traumaris 'Space'
This event has ended.
“Moon Over Water” refers to quiet reflection of the moon upon the surface of water, or one might say it is a mirror to the viewer’s heart, environment and social condition. From his early career Ushijima has employed traditional craft techniques of Kanazawa, incorporating gold, silver and aluminum leaf with soft improvised lines and rich moss greens and mustard yellows, depicting fragments of interior and garden scenes. In recent years he has come to pursue a particular abstraction in composition which is filled with a choice tension just as in the construction of a rock garden. In this exhibition Ushijima presents a collection of panel works with metallic leaf, alongside recent ink based works.
