Shirokane Art Complex 5th Anniversary Exhibition (curated by Hiroshi Sugimoto)
Gathering work of all genres from contemporary art to that of the historic age, this exhibition takes over each floor of the complex in response to Sugimoto's proposed subject.

Here 5 artists grapple with and expose the multiple layers of Eros & Thanatos. Challenging us with "life" that is hidden upon the periphery of memory in the everyday, Kaoru Okubo depicts the religion and violence of the human flesh. Masakazu Takatori's vortex of erotic images nonchalantly handles visions of life and death in the formation of a unique space. The powerfully direct video work of Fuyuhiko Takata provokes the audience with audacious erotics. While Hidekazu Tanaka samples existing art works assembling them in a chain of abstract expression in which the image seems to breed, here using images from Picassos 347 erotica series and the actions of Junya Yoshida spinning images with abandon into something else confronting us with life and death.
