19th-20th Century Italy was an era of turmoil with the troubled establishment of the kingdom of Italy and 2 world wars. The city of Florence, famed for the blossoming of the art of the Renaissance, was at this time undergoing a 2nd renaissance in a significant revival of art, becoming an important base for modern Italian painting. This exhibition presents 70 paintings from the Gallery of Modern Art of Florence collection in the first overview of Italian modern painting in Japan.
