Hitoshi Imai spent more than eight years pilgrimaging to bookstores on 22 islands across Japan, from Rebunto Island in the north to Yonaguni in the south, where he photographed island scenery and the bookstores’ owners and patrons. Many of these works are compiled in the book “Remote Island Bookstores.”
