This event has ended.

Avant garde artists of the Japanese post-war era Masao Tsuruoka(1907-79) and Jiro Oyamada(1914-91) both came together as members of Jiyu Bijutsu Kyokai in 1947 and went on to present work of a bold new direction, gaining critical acclaim in popular events like the Independents Exhibition, Contemporary Japanese Art Exhibition, and the Sao Paolo Biennale. This year marks 35 years since Tsuruoka’s death and 100 years since Oyamada’s birth, which is acknowledged here in a joint retrospective of their work, featuring Tsuruoka’s oil paintings produced between 1940s-1960s, pastel works, drawings and sculptures and Oyamada’s 1955 “Pieta” and a collection of oil paintings from the 1960s.
