This event has ended.

Gabriel Acevedo Velarde (b. 1976 in Lima, Peru) is an internationally active artist whose works have been shown throughout South America, the United States, and Europe.

His animation “Escenario” (2004), exhibited at the 2010 Sao Paulo Biennale and the 2011 Lyon Biennale, uses a manga style that seems comical at first glance to express simply yet acutely the mechanisms of a society robbed of individuality by constant monitoring and surveillance. In addition to “Escenario,” this exhibition (Velarde’s first solo show in Japan) presents the new video “Decree 882,” which was staged at the Natural History Museum in Lima.
