20th Anniversary Workshop “A Time of Rebirth: The Persimmon Tree Project”
This event has ended.
“A Time of Rebirth: The Persimmon Tree Project” began 20 years ago with children planting samplings grown from the seeds of a persimmon tree that survived the atomic explosion in Nagasaki. Hara Museum Arc received some of these samplings nine years ago. From the fruit of these second-generation trees growing in various regions of the country, the Gunma Prefecture-born artist Yuta Nakajima creates charcoal to use in workshops dealing with themes of peace and time. Participants in these workshops use the charcoal to make India ink, with which they paint pictures around the persimmon trees. This time, pictures of the workshop taken by a professional photographer will be displayed the following day, and the artist and Persimmon Tree Project founder Tatsuo Miyajima be in attendance. Come take part in this workshop offering the chance to contemplate peace and art.
