Toyoo Ito
The fourth exhibition in the “Future of Creation” series features the work of Toyo Ito, one of Japan’s most prominent architects. The Toyo Ito Museum of Architecture, Imabari, which opened in 2011, has attracted scores of visitors. Ito’s work over the past ten years has focused on reminding people of the appeal of lifestyles rooted in traditional Japanese culture, a capstone of which has been his “lifestyle models” on the Setouchi island of Omishima. This exhibition features proposals, sketches, and video introducing Omishima residents and Ito’s designs for houses and a shrine on the island.
