Rokuzo Waku “Pathography”
This event has ended.
Presenting 23 works from “Pathography/Summer of Cremation,” Rokuzo Waku’s book of photography published by Sokyusha in May, 2015. The term pathography refers to a medical field that studies the influence of past disease or mental illness on an individual’s life, including his or her personality, accomplishments, criminal record, etc. Waku states, “I think photography unexpectedly reflects things that cannot be seen by the eye alone. It’s probably fair to call this a kind of clairvoyance. He views his work as a very precise, sensitive collection of what lies between “what is readily visible and what comes into sight” and “what is captured and what is reflected through photography.”
