Seiko Mikami and the ‘80s

Artists

Seiko Mikami
Seiko Mikami made her colorful debut as a cutting-edge artist in the 1980s. Her sculptures and installations of cables and computer circuits evoked nerves and the brain, demonstrating the relationship between the city and the body in rapidly developing information-based societies. In the ‘90s, Mikami applied her knowledge from computer science studies in America to create interactive works exploring the links between unseen information and the physical. Her activities in the ‘80s served as the real basis of her work, however, which this exhibition looks back on with archived materials and talks.
