Ends in 36 days

Showa-era artist Rokuro Taniuchi created a total of 1,336 collages for the covers of the weekly magazine Shunkan Shincho between 1956 and 1981. This exhibition, part of a four-part series spotlighting his work this year, features Taniuchi’s collages using a variety of materials such as paper, sand, lace, and rope. In their sculptural and textural qualities, these colorful, playful works demonstrate similarities with the French collage technique papier collé influenced by Cubism and avant-garde movements.
