Toru Wakiya ― The Act of Drawing

Musashino Art University Museum & Library

poster for Toru Wakiya ― The Act of Drawing

Ends in 2 days

A self-selected exhibition by Toru Wakiya, a sculptor who has taught the basics of plastic arts at Musashino Art University for many years. At the core of his creative process lies his unique concept of drawing: grasping the subject’s visual characteristics, texture, three-dimensional volume and at the same time recreating the sense of presence are all included. In his thinking, therefore, the act of sculpting is also a part of “drawing.” In this exhibition, the concept of drawing will be reexamined through fifty sculptures, some of which are new works, as well as 150 two-dimensional artworks.
