Ulala Imai
Nidi Gallery presents its third exhibition of works by Ulala Imai. These 25 new paintings include works from Imai’s representative “gathering” series of arranged objects and her food series featuring vivid fruits and vegetables and toast.

Imai is influenced by classical Western painting. Her painting “Revelation” depicts a stuffed bear who might be interpreted as the Angel Gabriel, a messenger of the Word of God. This bear and other subjects of the painting are portrayed as “on standby” in a faintly lit corner of Imai’s home, as if sunbathing. In this time of COVID-19 when people have no choice but to stay at home, cut off from the world, Imai’s works have a fluid vital power evoking hope and humor.

*Please check the gallery’s website for requested COVID-prevention measures before visiting.
