Shotaro Yoshino “Breathing Boundaries”
This event has ended.
U-Forum Museum is pleased to present the solo exhibition by Shotaro Yoshino, who works on the theme of “Time and Memory” all over the world.
Shotaro Yoshino’s work expresses the “memory of the land” and has exhibited at museums, galleries, alternative spaces, as well as at community-based events both in Japan and abroad. Yoshino’s signature work, “Lifting the Ground,” gently draws out the history deposited there by lifting the ground as a deposit of memory. Through this expression of ground and memory, the work makes us consider the impact on the place, the impact on the people involved in the place, and the relationship between the place and people, shaking our consciousness deep inside.
In this solo exhibition, Yoshino presents the development of his work based on his research on transforming the experiences and memories of each place into artworks during the various residencies he has participated along the past years. This time, the artist digests the visible and the invisible of our society, examining the surface of things and their inner workings.
