This event has ended.

Super-Normal?, the first exhibition (video installation) of Super-Normal is produced by Kazuhiko Hiwa and Yugo Saito. Their process of experiencing and examining how Tokyo is an unusual city for those who try to live an ordinary life will be presented on film. The cold boredom and the extraordinary violence that lurks within the ordinary and common sense of the city catches the viewer’s eye and forces them to reconsider “normal.”

Initially, the exhibition was planned as an act of hacking and subverting the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, which were to be held this summer. But the coronavirus spread ahead of it and surpassed the Olympics and Paralympics. It could be said that during these two months of disabling human and economic activity, people spent their days thinking seriously about “normal life.” Are we willing to return to our former normal, or do we want a different dimension of normal that goes beyond “normal.” In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, Super-Normal asks us, “What do you think of normal?”
