Yokosuka Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Minoru Kawada
Gallery 4 features the work of Koya Nakamura (1922–2002), who moved to Yokosuka in 1984 and portrayed ocean landscapes and scenes of fishing boats and equipment on the Miura Peninsula in his yuzen-dyed works. His works feature expressions that change with the seasons and have been praised for their unique compositions and use of color. Gallery 5 displays a selection of paintings by Kanemon Asai (1901–1983), who had an atelier in Yokosuka City. Finally, the North Gallery exhibits the works of Minoru Kawada (1911–2011), who was also featured in the museum’s 2011 exhibition “A Century of Minoru Kawada.” After this show the museum added around 40 of his works to the collection. It now introduces a selection of these pieces for public display for the first time.
