*The Museum of Modern Art, Hayama, which has been temporarily closed from January 12 to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, will reopen on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. We introduced an online timed-entry reservation system as one of our measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please visit official website for the details.

These works by the Irish-born painter Francis Bacon (1909-1992) and related materials are being shown in Japan for the first time. They were given to Barry Joule, who was closely involved with Bacon during his lifetime, just before Bacon died and their exhibition and acquisition by a number of museums in various countries in recent years have been talked about a lot. Carefully selected oil paintings of the 1930s, drawings, photographs, works drawn in books, and other rare materials offer an opportunity to explore the secrets of the work by this master of the twentieth century.
