The Mitsui Memorial Museum opened on the 7th floor of the Mitsui Main Building on October 8, 2005. A special exhibition has been held every five years since the museum opened, but to mark the 15th anniversary we will be exhibiting national treasures and culturally important properties from our collection. In addition to important cultural properties, well-known masterpieces and significant works will be exhibited. The exhibition is divided into East Asian art and Japanese antiques.
Initially, the exhibition was planned to coincide with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Unfortunately, the Olympics have been postponed due to COVID-19. However, the exhibition will still be held to commemorate the museum’s 15th anniversary. This is the first time that the museum exhibits have been divided into East Asian art and Japanese antiques, and it is the first time for us to appreciate the special characteristics of the Mitsui family’s traditional museum collection from the perspective of the East and Japan.
