“Art in Life” is the basic principle behind the exhibitions and collection of Suntory Museum of Art. In addition to paintings and sculptures, the museum affirms the beauty of objects and tools used in everyday life that bring color and enjoyment to people’s lifestyles. Having opened in 1961, the museum has introduced many such works of art.
The first exhibition since the museum’s renewal returns to its basic principles, presenting kimonos, ornaments, cosmetic accessories, and other items suitable for special occasions. Furthermore, contemporary artists including Akira Yamaguchi and Taro Yamamoto are featured in a special display finding intersections between the museum’s collection and contemporary art.
