Ends tomorrow

Paintings from the Edo and Meiji periods have a reputation for being difficult to understand. To make them more accessible, Chiba City Museum of Art has selected Edo paintings from its collection with themes and motifs of laughter. From cute animals to witty caricatures and humor-filled Zen paintings, these works are full of charm. Take a break from the summer heat and enjoy these diverse and soothing works.
