The Photographs of Eikoh Hosoe: The Theatre Within the Dark Box
Ends in 123 days
Eikoh Hosoe (88), the director of the museum, is a photographer who has been active for many years as a central figure in pioneering post-war photography in Japan and is highly regarded worldwide. In the postwar era, when realist photography, which emphasized documentation, dominated the scene, Hosoe recognized that photographers should create expression through their relationship with their subjects. This exhibition looks back on the rich photographic world of a single artist over the past half-century.
