Hideo Hagiwara, familiar with Aesop’s Fables since childhood, started his “Aesop’s Picture Fables” series in 1976. This series ran twenty years from idea to completion and developed new possibilities in woodblock printing with a style of gentle freedom. Kichijoji Art Museum exhibits all 51 of these vivid, vibrant works depicting anthropomorphized animals.
