*Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi is temporarily closed from May 16 (Sun) to June 13 (Sun).
Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi stands close to Tatara-numa, a marsh designated as Japan Heritage in recent years, and is surrounded by rice paddies and swamps. Designed as “an ‘island’ emerging from the ‘surface of the water,’” the landscape integrates the surrounding nature, too. With the twentieth anniversary of the museum approaching, this exhibition looks back at the history of its acquisitions. The features of Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi are brought to the fore through the works in the collection.
