This event has ended.

Western karakuri dolls that repeat interesting movements when the handle is turned are called automata. Made of wood, metal rods, belts, and other materials, the automata are surprisingly simple, but how is the force of turning transmitted to create the interesting movements that change up and down, left and right? Find out the secrets of the movement of various karakuri from the 140 automata, documents, and models displayed in this exhibition.
