Akiko Endo “Connect”
This event has ended.
Akiko Endo, a metal sculptor, creates works using decaying trees and metal guard wires as materials, with the theme of life reviving again in the flow of time.
Trees sprout from the earth and grow over a long period of time. They retain a strong vitality that enables them to endure even in a rugged natural environment, but eventually their lives come to an end when they decay into fallen trees. Endo believes that the return of life to the earth and its transformation into soil is an important process of rebirth. Resurrection is, in a sense, the faint hope of those who are left behind in this world that it does not matter what form it takes, as long as life can be reconnected in this world. With this thought in mind, Endo took the time to carefully wrap a guard wire around a decaying tree as the last form of life in this world before returning to the earth and carved the quiet time of the past and future into the work to express the continuing connection of life.
