Out of 21,640 entries for the 2020 D&AD Awards, four works have been selected for the Black Pencil. The Black Pencil is the highest award given to truly groundbreaking works, and the awards are so selective that some years they are not given. In the ranking by country, Japan came in third after the U.S. and the U.K., with a total of 55 awards. Japan excels especially in the fields of design, craft, and digital technology, and has produced a number of exciting and highly acclaimed works.
