Eukaryote Group Show 2021
This event has ended.
This exhibition will showcase recent works by Masahide Matsuda on the first floor, new works by Ryo Kikuchi and Gensho Sugawara on the second floor, and works by several artists on the third floor.
Masahide Matsuda was born in 1986 in Kanagawa Prefecture. He has been working in Europe and Tokyo on the theme of anonymity in the post-Internet society, using performance, lecture, and installation techniques that shake people’s behavior and values.
Ryo Kikuchi was born in 1991 in Aomori Prefecture and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program of the Tokyo Zokei University Graduate School of Art and Design. He is currently working on the “void” series, in which he attempts to express the ephemerality, unattainability, and phenomenality of “things” by using visual effects that change the way the work looks depending on the viewer’s position.
Gensho Sugawara was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1993 and graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 2018 with a Master’s degree in Sculpture. His three-dimensional works, which represent contemporary people using the plasticity technique and emphasize anonymity through a slight tactility, show the possibility of three-dimensional sculpture using FRP as a material while embracing the shifting surface of the modern world and the lack of a basis for reality and raising its presence.
