A large tree in the school yard. A cherished book. Scenes from the dinner table. Memories such as these accumulate quietly and shape us. There are artists who create works based on memories residing deep within their souls, allowing them to mature with time and come to fruition as creative expressions. These photographs, paintings, and sculptures by artists from Gunma Prefecture and beyond are centered around themes of memory. Divided into the sections “Ordinary and Universal,” “Family Story,” “Wandering Memories,” and “Two Works: Kitchen Scenes and Mother,” they have the power to spark our own powers of recollection.
