Museum of Beni
Museum in The Omotesando, Aoyama area
Isehan-Honten Museum of Beni was established in 2006 with a commitment to keeping alive the history, culture and traditional craftsmanship of “Beni”, the crimson coloring used in cosmetics and its associated accessories. This museum traces the legacy of Japan’s traditional makeup culture from the Edo period and examines, through a range of historical materials, the craftsmanship witnessed its profusion of makeup cases and utensils. The museum’s salon also provides visitors the unique opportunity to undergo an Edo makeover, experiencing directly the beauty of another age.
