This exhibition will introduce a variety of cultural articles, featuring writings on silk and on wooden strips which are almost unknown in Japan, while showcasing the dynamic art of ancient Chinese calligraphy which still maintains fresh and powerful strokes. At the same time, intricately woven silk fabrics, lacquer ware e.g. cups with handles, post-Warring States Age seals, and pieces of sealing clay, as well as the replicas of silk paintings and lacquer coffins, as we invite you to examine the Mawangdui Han Tombs.In addition, wooden message strips which were excavated from the ruins of Zoumalou, inside Changsha Castle, in 1996, will be displayed. We wishe to bring an opportunity to experience the expression of the ancient and rich culture of the Dongting Lake and Hunan region by the great Yangtze River.
