This is the first memorial exhibition to be held in Japan since the death of Shoji Ueda. The exhibition will explore his world by covering photographs from his whole career. Born in Tottori Prefecture, Shoji Ueda started producing works in the 30s and went on to become a highly acclaimed photographer praised all over the world.
His photographs are very distinct, with a modern feeling. Some works that will be exhibited are: the 'Uramachi' series taken before WW2, 'Sand dune' and 'Doreki' series in the 1950s, the 'Small legends' and 'Lightscapes of scenery' series in the 1970s, color 'Still life' series, reports from Europe, and the 'Ueda-Cho' collection.
