Well known as the symbol of Berlin, the bear was chosen as the motif for this project. An artist from each member country of the United Nations received a bear and created a design on it that expresses the culture of the respective country. Each representing a different country, they are arranged in a symbolic circle and holding hands, the 127 Buddy Bears send a powerful message of world peace and friendship as part of the Germany in Japan 2005/2006 events.
