The Canadian Embassy presents fourteen winning photographs of “Show Us Your Canada - A Celebration of Canada’s Communities” national photography competition sponsored by Toyota Canada Inc. and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
Thousands of images were submitted from March 1 to August 31, 2004. Thirteen of the grand prizes were awarded, one grand prize to a resident from each of the provinces and territories. Toyota vehicle owners from across the country were also invited to submit photographs and a fourteenth prize was awarded to Carl Heino, Vancouver, British Columbia.
Visually stunning award winning photographs capture Canada’s landscape and cultural diversity. Prior to touring to Tokyo, the collection was displayed in the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2005, in Aichi.
The Canada Pavilion at Expo 2005 explored the theme of diversity through a multi-sensory experience of Canadian culture, environment, and identity. Six Canadians were featured in the public presentation and shared their unique perspective on what it means to be Canadian. Since opening on March 25, 2005, the pavilion drew 3.5 million people.
