Cartoon writer Yasuji Tanioka created popular short stories in the 70s. The phrases used by his characters became widely known and trendy, and the extremely simplified style and unrestrained expression of his drawing were highly acclaimed from the artistic point of view. This exhibition explores the unexpected similarities of cartoons and contemporary art through the works and sensibility of Yasuji Tanioka, known as an artist who kept challenging the avant-garde.
