Yuki Sasameya
Yuki Sasameya's world is stir-less; reigned by deeply grayish colors and simple strokes, a western odor wafts through, yet somehow one can sense a certain mesmerizing nostalgy hidden deep down.
After having worked at a publishing company for a while, Sasameya traveled to France, where she studied drawing at the Cherbourg Art School. In 1973, she returned to Japan and began creating oil paintings and wood-block prints under the name Hosoya Masayuki. As Yuki Sasameya "the illustrator" though, she has been active for the past 15 years, producing illustrations for over 60 books and many, many magazine covers. Out of that extraordinary wealth, this exhibition focuses on the covers she made for literary magazine Subaru and a number of original works taken from various picture books.
