Last year, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo renamed its permanent exhibition "MOT Collection" and with this show aims to take a fresh look at the works in the museum's possession. The two-part "MOT Collection" exhibition for 2006 introduces visitors to contemporary art made since 1960.
This exhibition focuses on 1960s Pop Art, prints shown at the International Print Biennales of the 1970s, abstract painting by Japanese artists who debuted in the 1980s, 1990s Asian contemporary art and photography and painting produced since 2000.
Further to this, there is a special exhibition concentrating on two artists, introducing their activities through works of theirs which are in the museum's collection. One show is of prints made in the 1970s by Katsuro Yoshida, and the other is of paintings made by Katsumi Nakamura between the 1980s and the year 2000.
