Laima Eglite, a Latvian artist will have her first exhibition in Japan. Eglite has been actively on wide range of work from a cartoon film, illustrations of the picture book beside paintings, not only in home country of Latvia, but also Europe and U.S.A. About 16 paintings including the new works will be at the gallery this time.
Eglite was really into a dance and a pantomime, also drama in her childhood, yet she was very much influenced by this experience which played a big role on her late career.Then she came to express her feelings by drawing as she used to do it by pantomime. For her, drawing was a just substitute tool for diary. She began to draw a daily event around her on paper.
The reason why she doesn't need a model is that there is still a sense of motion deeply in her. Eglite is still a producer of the drama, and the canvas is her own theater. "Love for the life, inner energy for art." Please listen to her words recited through her work.
