Tomio Seike is a Japanese photographer based in the UK, who has a reputation for the gentle and silent atmospheres of his photographs as well as beautiful, graceful prints. Photography collectors in Europe and America have loved photographs of Seike since his first series of photographs "Zoe" were exhibited in the UK in the mid-1980s.

Seike's new work "Light on Dust - Glynde Forge" consists of photographs of a forge in Glynde in East Sussex, UK. The artist came across Glynde Forge during a walk with his friend. In one glance he fell under the spell of the unique atmosphere of the place which was managed in a time-honored fashion. In the dim forge, there were tools, blocks of metal, and finished parts placed in order. They were covered by dust for years and years as if telling a story about the long history of the forge. When the soft light poured in through the window, dust and light blended softly and the atmosphere changed drastically. The scenes captured quietly by Seike were sublimated into beautiful photographs full of a silent atmosphere. These fragments of the forge photographed by Seike remind the viewer of the passing of time and what is lost when time vanishes.
