"Roll Play" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Fukagawa Ippuku
Media: Painting, Sculpture
This exhibition, curated by artist Masaya Shirahama, is being held at 3 venues simultaneously, one of which is Fukagawa Ippuku, the center of Fukagawa resource center street commercial corridor. Today's information society is managed and under surveillance by the "empire," and societal disparities can be called the equivalent of an invisible prison. To survive, everyone kills off a part of themselves to play a societal role and barely manages to return to their true selves in the private realm. Now networks allow us to move about outside in an imaginary dimension, behind the mask called the handle name and live out our most natural selves according to instinct. Can art in the form of simple portraiture be exist, in modern society where people's true selves are represented somewhere in between the societal role player and the masked wild self? This exhibition aims to portray a layered version of self by borrowing the act of roll-playing.
