Up to this point, Mizuno was working two-dimensionally, but here he is investigating a new three-dimensional field. "Na-nashi (No Name)" is a series of papier-maché objects that have evolved out of the dark surfaces of his 2D works. For this exhibition, they are installed with household objects and tools from the collection of the Folk Art Reference Room.

Tools and objects that were once ordinary everyday items are labeled and numbered so that they can be stored as reference material. The gallery space has been set up as though it is a temporary storage room for those antique tools - in a sense, so as to reset the meanings of those artifacts. In the "storage" setting, the artist attempts to make a comparison with those object titled "No Name" and the anonymous objects, raising a question about what we conceive "art" to be.

This exhibition is being held at the Folk Art Reference Room Gallery, located on the 2nd floor of Building 13, in the Musashino Art University Museum & Library.
